Poimu-marjapoimureiden tarina ulottuu noin vuoteen 2010, jolloin ostin ensimmäisen alumiinikoppaisen marjapoimurini kuhmolaiselta Veikko Määtältä. Poimurin murteellinen nimi, Marja-Öhrä, viittaa ahneeseen poimimiseen. Määttä valmisti ja möi itse kehittämiään poimureita kymmeniä vuosia aina 2020-luvun alkuun saakka eri puolille maata.
